Privacy Policy
Babel Dynamics ("we", "us") makes the Babel Unit Series valve boxes. This policy explains what we collect when you visit this site or join our interest list, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. The products are not on sale yet. The only thing this site does with your information is keep you posted and help us decide what to build.
What we collect
When you join the interest list
- Your email address.
- Your consent to receive launch news, and the date and time you gave it.
If you answer the optional questionnaire
- First name.
- Country, state or province, and ZIP or postal code.
- Age range.
- What best describes you (for example, irrigation contractor or homeowner).
- Which box size interests you, how many you expect to buy in the next 12 months, what you use today, the valve box diameter you use, and the brand you use now.
- How you heard about us, and anything you choose to write in the message box.
Automatically, when you use the site
- Which link brought you here, such as a tagged link we shared in a Facebook group, and the site you came from.
- Which parts of the page you used, such as playing a video, turning the box in the gallery, or opening a question in the FAQ.
- A random visitor ID kept in your browser's local storage, so we can tell a repeat visit from a new one. It does not contain your name or email.
- Your approximate city, state and country, worked out from your internet connection by the geojs.io and ipapi.co lookup services. We keep only the place names, not your IP address.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Our visitor counts come from Plausible Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not store your IP address.
How we use it
- To email you launch news and early adopter offers, but only if you checked the consent box.
- To understand who needs these boxes, in what sizes and quantities, so we can plan production and pricing.
- To see which places we shared the page actually sent people, so we know where to share it next.
- To answer you if you write to us.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing. We use a few service providers to run the site, and they handle data only on our behalf:
- Netlify hosts this website. Like any web host, it keeps standard server logs.
- Google stores interest list signups and questionnaire answers in a private Google Sheet that only we can access.
- Plausible Analytics provides cookie-free visitor statistics.
- The email service we use to send launch news, once we start sending it.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to a company that takes over Babel Dynamics, which would be bound by this policy.
How long we keep it
We keep your signup and answers while the interest list is active and until the product launches. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information, we remove it within 30 days. Anonymous visitor statistics may be kept longer because they do not identify you.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe: every email we send has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us.
- See, correct or delete your information: email us and we will do it. We will not treat you differently for asking.
- Local storage: you can clear the visitor ID at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Depending on where you live, such as California or another US state with a privacy law, or the EU or UK, you may have extra rights. These include the right to know what we hold about you, to get a copy, to have it deleted or corrected, and to object to how we use it. We honor these requests wherever you live. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for launch emails and on our legitimate interest in planning the product for the questionnaire and site statistics. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is for contractors and homeowners. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and signups are stored in a password-protected account. No method of storage or transfer is perfectly secure, but we limit access to the people at Babel Dynamics who need it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use information you already gave us, we will email you before it takes effect.
